Copies from the soundboard reels of these shows have circulated since the '70s, sometimes mislabled "Kaleidoscope Theater, LA," often with dates and sequences mixed up, usually in badly degraded sound quality. This set assembles complete copies of the 11th and the 12th in the best quality circulating. Except for the middle portion of the 11th, sound is excellent throughout; this inferior segment is listenable while leaving definite room for improvement if an upgrade shows up; we haven't been able to find one & don't want to delay further.
Many people gave help on the way to creating this set of CDs. Dave Greenberg did the final masters. Jack Warner was instrumental in providing the difficult composite for the 2nd disc of 12/11/69, which was first mastered by Scott Clugston. RB, KW, JN and HB also provided important assistance. Jim Powell instigated the project and writes these notes. SHN conversion by Jay Gerland.

Bonus disk on Dave's 10 - 80 minutes of gleamingly remastered '69. That Other One is definitely the highlight - cool to see these old boards from the Thelma run given the Treatment.

Good Stuff
From the point of view of somebody who loves the Dead, it is great to hear this show, go back in time and hear them play like they did in the early days.

tc plays bach!
I personlly love this show. 69 was such a fukd year. the r&b and country tunes mixed with the lsd freak rock is just plain ridiculous.
check out the lite snippet of tc playing a js bach minuet btween mama tried and the yellow dog story (does that ever get old?) its amazing.
ps: this is the worst quality sb i have ever heard, but it's still pretty good. i started my bootleg days with punk rock/ hardcore shows, so i have a wide berth.

this is not one to download, although is sbd?, the sound quality is very low, except dark star & hard to handle. the cryptical is filler on the 10th cosmic cuts about 56 sec. in. do the alligator>caution from the 12th. its well worth it.

Unfortunately....
This is some killer vintage DEAD, but the show sounds like crap. Don't download, until you sample the tracks.
